Steel Magnolia Barn | Murfreesboro, TN
I’ll Be Honest, I Didn’t Know What To Expect
I didn’t know what to expect. I wasn’t living in Tennessee at the time of this wedding quiet yet. So being super unfamiliar with this venue was front of mind. At that point, I had shot hundreds of weddings but you never really grow out of that weird feeling. I flew straight from our family vacation in Vegas back to Louisiana, shot a wedding, drove to the airport immediately after that, then flew to Nashville to shoot this wedding the next day. So you can imagine how relieved I was to see that this gorgeous venue lived up to the photos I saw online of it. Even on a cold and rainy Tennessee day.
Tucked Away in the Woods of Murfreesboro, TN
Steel Magnolia Barn sits on a massive 600-acre farm, which immediately sets it apart from many venues in the area. (zola.com)
It gets better though, there’s several spaces available here:
A waterfront ceremony area with a dock house
A charming white chapel
Open fields, wooded areas, and beautiful countryside
A fully converted barn for the reception.
So many options. What would you do with this many choices?
Vintage Modern. Is That A thing?
A lot of barns look like just that. A barn. That’s not really what you’re getting at Steel Magnolia barn in Murfreesboro, TN. It’s classy and modern but without sacrificing that vintage vibe that you come to expect with a barn-styled venue.
Steel Magnolia Barn is Beautiful and Functional
One of my frustrations with alot of wedding venues is style of functionality. This venue has all of the amenities that you would need for your wedding day. The bride room was literally perfect. Not to mention that crazy waterfront view you get for the ceremony portion of the day.
A Venue That Actually Feels Private
This venue is so far out in the woods that you’ll forget that you’re even in Nashville. This is great as a wedding photographer because dealing with traffic and noise just causes a ton of unneeded distractions and delays that nobody enjoys. This venue is in the middle of nowhere but in the middle of Murfreesboro at the same time. I don’t understand it either, you should see if for yourself.
Great For Any
According to Zolo, Steel Magnolia Barn has a seated compacity of 150. This is such a good number for a wedding venue. This makes it great for a crowd, but then can easily be scaled back if it’s a smaller and more intimate wedding.
What Makes It Special?
Let’s be honest. As a wedding photographer I’ve learned something pretty relevant in this particular case. There’s not a shortage of barns to get married in if you live in Nashville or Murfreesboro.
Steel Magnolia Barn sits on 600 acres. Which is mind blowing to be honest.
You get several options on rooms/areas. It’s like having a few mini-venues available.
The area is designed with weddings in mind, making it great for workflow on a wedding day.
I can’t Stress It Enough. Book This Venue.
Planning your wedding and some how magically got favor from the Google machine by finding this article? Lucky you, seriously, this venue is a pretty dang good one.
In case you forgot.
Backwoods Tennessee scenery.
Literally everything you need as far as venues are concerned.
Wedding photographer approved!
When it comes to options and scalability, more is more. Am I right? This is such a good option if you’re looking for the perfect wedding venue in Murfreesboro, TN.
